About the Course
The aim of the ATPL (A) theoretical knowledge course is to build student knowledge and understanding of the ATPL subjects while covering the knowledge required for the ATPL(A).
ATPL (A) Theory consists of 13 Subjects which are:
- General navigation
- Aviation law
- Operational procedures
- Human performance & limitations
- Communications (VFR & IFR)
- Meteorology
- Mass & balance
- Radio navigation
- Aircraft general knowledge
- Principles of flight
- Performance
- Instrumentation
- Flight planning
The ATPL is based on 3 modules totalling 650 hours (subject to credits) consisting of Classroom Training, Self-Study and Online Instructor-Led Training.
Examinations on all 13 subjects will be taken in the National Civil Aviation Authority.
Pre-entry Requirements
An applicant for the EASA ATPL (A) modular theoretical knowledge course must:
- Have attained the age of 17 years
- Hold a valid PPL (A) issued in accordance with ICAO Annex 1
- Be able to read, write and orally communicate in English language to a minimum of ICAO Level 4
- Have sufficient knowledge of Mathematics and Physics (science) to facilitate an understanding of the theoretical knowledge instruction content of the course. This entry standard is deemed met on successful completion of the Padpilot Maths and Physics course and exam.
